Home Charging Beats Public Charging

Public fast chargers on the Sunshine Coast are great for top-ups, but they're the most expensive way to run an EV - and there's nothing fun about queuing at Maroochydore or Kawana on a Saturday. A dedicated home charger fills the car overnight on cheap off-peak power (or free excess solar), so you leave every morning with a full battery and never plan your week around a charging bay.

A proper wall-mounted charger on its own dedicated circuit also charges far faster and far more safely than trickle-charging through a standard power point - which was never designed to run at full load for ten hours straight, night after night.

EV Charger FAQ

Can I charge my EV from solar?

Yes - a solar-integrated EV charger can be set to charge from your excess solar production, so your panels power your driving instead of exporting for a few cents. We install and configure solar-integrated chargers across the Sunshine Coast and set them up to prioritise solar automatically.

Do I need a special circuit for an EV charger?

Yes - a home EV charger needs its own dedicated circuit installed by a licensed electrician. It can't safely share a circuit with other appliances. We assess your switchboard capacity first to make sure the board can take the new circuit, and add protection or load management where needed.

How long does EV charger installation take?

Most straightforward installations - a modern home with the charger going in an attached garage near the switchboard - are completed in half a day. If your switchboard is older or lacks safety switches, it may need upgrading first, which we identify at the free assessment so there are no surprises on install day.
