Either is compliant. If your home already has 240V hardwired alarms, we typically replace them with hardwired photoelectric interconnected units. If not, 10-year sealed wireless interconnected alarms avoid wiring and wall damage. We'll recommend the best option for your home.
It isn't legally required, but we recommend adding an interconnected detector in the garage if you charge batteries or store charging devices there — so any fire triggers every alarm in the home for the earliest possible warning.
